Sandhyarani's Journey to Healing
Sandhyarani Sahu, a 13-month-old girl, is the only child of Arjun and Bhagabati Sahu from the remote district of Nabarangpur in Odisha. She frequently suffered from colds, coughs, and pneumonia. When taken to Nabarangpur District Hospital, she was diagnosed with a heart ailment. Both of her parents are illiterate, and this heart ailment was unprecedented not only in their family but also in their village. The villagers had frightened them, and her father almost collapsed upon learning that heart surgery would cost lakhs of rupees.
The doctor advised her father to take her to Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals, for further treatment. At H2H's partner hospital, Sandhyarani was examined and diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). She was admitted and underwent surgery at the hospital completely free of charge.
Bhagabati, her mother, found the hospital to be heaven-like. The ambiance was simply enchanting. "I have seen so many hospitals. How can a hospital be like this?" she asked. The medical staff were very cordial and attended to all their needs.
The family expressed profound gratitude to the doctors and supporters for giving Sandhyarani a new lease on life. Her father, Arjun Sahu, was overwhelmed with happiness and promised to spread the good news. He vowed to explain the procedure to those in need and even accompany them to the hospital.
Kritika's Miracle: From Despair to a New Life
Kritika Rani, a six-year-old from Jairampur, Bihar, experienced a bout of cough and cold at the tender age of six months. Concerned, her parents took her to the local hospital, where the doctor recommended a comprehensive examination. To their dismay, the diagnosis revealed that Kritika had congenital heart disease, deafness, and bilateral squint. Her speech development was also significantly delayed due to hearing issues.
The doctor explained to Kritika's parents that she had multiple co-morbid conditions, and her overall health was fragile, preventing her from walking. Kritika's father, a laborer, and her mother, a homemaker, were left utterly devastated and at a loss for words. Determined to find the best care for their daughter, they embarked on a journey to various hospitals in search of treatment. However, the cost estimates they received, ranging from 4 to 5 lakhs, left them deeply worried as their limited resources couldn't cover such expenses.
A glimmer of hope emerged when one of Kritika's father's friends told them about Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, H2H's partner Hospital. Without hesitation, they brought Kritika to the hospital, where she underwent a Sam excision with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure. Remarkably, her speech began to improve within a matter of days.
Kritika's parents were overjoyed by the rapid transformation in her condition. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and the hospital for not only mending her heart but also granting her the gift of improved vision, hearing, and speech. Today Kritika has a new Gift of Life, filled with hope, promise, boundless joy and gratitude.

Sujatha's Testimonial
Joining the SMSIMSR, India's First Free Rural Medical College, has provided me with many unique and valuable experiences. I come from a rural village near Dharwad, where my parents work as farmers. I am the first-generation literate member of my family, and the entire village, to enter the medical profession. Attending this college is a dream come true.
Firstly, the opportunity to receive education without the burden of tuition fees has completely alleviated all financial stress, allowing me to focus entirely on my studies and practicals. For the first time in our lives, both my parents and I are relieved from the constant fear of not being able to pay fees, which has been hindrance throughout my school years.
This college offers a very supportive learning environment. Expert faculty members not only teach us but also make themselves available beyond college hours to clear our doubts and guide us in our studies. My favorite subject is Anatomy, and I am particularly excited by the dissections as they allow me to learn about the human body in depth.
My parents are overjoyed because they never believed my dream of becoming a doctor would come true. They are also relieved that I am in such a safe college where they don't have to worry about my security or whether I am eating and sleeping well, as our hostel in-charges take care of all these matters. Previously, I had to think twice before asking my parents for anything I needed, as I had to consider how it would affect the family income. Now, all our requirements are provided for, from toothbrushes to laptops, which I am using for the first time in my life.
In my village, there is still a lot of discrimination, and not many people would talk to us before. However, since coming home for vacation, I have received many compliments from relatives and others. They are now showing a great deal of respect to my family because I am on my way to becoming a doctor.
This respect and support inspire me to work hard. After my studies, I aim to return to my village to serve the people, as there are still no basic facilities there.
I am deeply grateful to all those who are supporting my studies.
