The prestigious Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award 2024 has been awarded to Dr. Mohit Kumar Jolly from the Department of Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. Dr. Jolly has been recognized for his groundbreaking research in cancer treatment, furthering the legacy of innovation and excellence associated with this honor.
Now in its second edition, the Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award has gained significant popularity, attracting applications from leading research institutes across the country. This year, 82 applications were received, out of which 12 finalists were shortlisted for personal interviews. Following a rigorous evaluation process led by an expert committee chaired by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Dr. Jolly was selected as the recipient of the award.
An initiative of the Government of Goa, this award aims to inspire young scientific talent in Goa and across India to achieve excellence in science and contribute to the greater good of humanity. The award includes a cash prize of ₹5 lakhs and a citation, making it the highest cash prize in science and technology in the country.
The award was presented during the Manohar Parrikar Vigyan Mahotsav at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) on December 13, 2024, commemorating the birth anniversary of the late Dr. Manohar Parrikar, in whose honour the award is named.
